How do I take part?

What information will you collect about me?

We will collect and process personal data (e.g., name, telephone number, address, email) in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will ensure the utmost confidentiality and security of your information and will not share any data.


What will happen to me if I take part and what do I have to do?

You will be asked to attend a photography shoot at UWE Bristol, Glenside campus. On the day we will talk you through the scenarios that we would like to photograph and answer any questions you have. You will need to sign a consent form.


You will be asked to model as a healthcare professional, e.g., a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic etc, or a patient. We will provide you with uniform to wear and any equipment needed for the images. Here are examples of the type of scenarios we may photograph:


There will be a registered healthcare professional present to ensure the images we capture are accurate and reflective of clinical practice. The number of scenarios photographed will depend on your availability. 


We will look after you well and provide refreshments throughout the photoshoot!

Do I need to look a certain way to model?

Although this is a photography project, there is no specific way you need to look to be involved. We are looking for a diverse range of people from different communities.


What about my pronouns?

If you are comfortable, please feel free to share your pronouns with our team, they will be respected. Please note there is no pressure to do this.



Do I have to be a healthcare professional?

No, you don't need to be a healthcare professional or have any healthcare experience to participate. We are looking for people to model only. 

How will my image be used?

The images will be uploaded onto a digital library on the NHS England website. They may be freely downloaded for use in hard copy publications and on websites and social media pages.

What if I want to withdraw my image?

You have the right to withdraw consent to participate at any time.

If you withdraw consent to being photographed during a session, consent to use of the photographs will be automatically withdrawn from that point and any photographs already taken will be deleted.


If a participant withdraws consent to use the photographs at any point after the session:

the lawfulness of their use prior to such withdrawal will not be affected.

the photographs will be removed from the digital library on the NHS England website.  

any photographs that have already been published in accordance with prior consent may continue to be used for the purpose(s) for which they were published.


Such notice will take effect upon receipt by UHBW.

What are the possible benefits of taking part? 

Your participation is key to addressing the lack of representation in current imagery. 

What are the possible disadvantages and risks of taking part?

There are no known direct or indirect disadvantages or risks of taking part in this project. 

Who is funding this project?

This project is funded by NHS England. 

How will I be reimbursed for my time?

In appreciation, we will provide Amazon gift voucher(s) for your contribution (£10 per hour).
